<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser scanning optical device preventing an image from being deteriorated due to displacement in the direction of main scanning of beam without complicating a configuration of the optical device and reducing productivity in image formation. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The laser scanning optical device includes a light source having a plurality of light emitting points for emitting light at different positions in the direction of auxiliary scanning to scan one photosensitive member by a plurality of beams a-d emitted from the light emitting points. The beam for obtaining a main scanning synchronizing signal (SOS signal) among a plurality of beams is changed for every scanning, and delay times t1, t1', t2, t3, t4 for deciding writing timing are controlled. The SOS signal is obtained by the beam (a) in scanning at odd numbers and the SOS signal is obtained by the beam (d) in scanning at even numbers. Ž<P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT Ž
