<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passbook printing mechanical unit 2 and a passbooks handling device 1 capable of processing a large amount of passbooks 23 at high speed, and especially without drastically adding mechanisms etc. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The device has a configuration of executing the steps S4 to S6 for controlling conveying means 11 so that a discharging speed for discharging the passbooks 23 from an insertion opening 4 by the conveying means 11 becomes the discharging speed corresponding to an opened page based on the opened page of the passbooks 23 read by optical reading means 10 when discharging the passbooks 23 whose total booking process being completed from the insertion opening 4.
