<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device and image forming apparatus achieving a simple constitution with high flexibility in width adjustment of an area to be heated by induction heating. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The fixing device 5 includes a hollow, cylindrical heating roller 53 made of a nonmagnetic material, an induction coil 71 and magnetic core 72 arranged facedly to the outside of the heating roller 53, and a magnetic core 81 arranged inside the heating roller 53 so that the surface of the heating roller 53 interposed between the induction coil 71 and magnetic core 72. By moving the induction coil 71, the magnetic core 72, and the magnetic core 81 in the axial direction of the heating roller 53, the facing width between the induction coil 71 and magnetic core 72 and the magnetic core 81 is changed.
