PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly densely mount flash memory modules, in a storage device where flash memory disks and hard disks are mixed. SOLUTION: This storage device includes a flash memory and a controller, and is connected with the second storage device provided with a magnetic disk. The controller can constitute a storage area of the flash memory or the magnetic disk, when preparing a logic volume. The controller accesses directly the flash memory to process an I/C request, in a case of the storage area constituted of the flash memory, when the I/C request is issued from a host computer, The storage area is defined by summing up a capacity of the storage area provided for the host computer, and an alternative area capacity taken into consideration with restriction of a deletion frequency in the flash memory, when defining the storage area constituted of the flash memory in the storage device.
