The operating unit has a front panel comprising an operating button, and a carrier plate (20) i.e. printed circuit board, arranged behind the front panel. A switching pad (10''') is arranged between the front panel and the carrier plate. The switching pad includes a latch (66) comprising an electrically conductive material (70) e.g. electrode, at an upper side (68). The latch is tilted against a lower side (64) of the switching pad. The electrically conductive material electrically contacts with a contact field of the carrier plate on the upper side of the switching pad.
