<p>The current surge limiter isolating equipment from its power supply is dependent on pre-set thresholds being exceeded. Surge detection is by an inductive winding (1) permanently in place around the supply line feeding a shunt resistor (2) and rectifier diode-capacitor pair. Its output controls a pair of amplifier stages (5, 6) via two threshold controlling potentiometers (3, 4) the outputs of which control a flip-flop (R, S). The flip-flop controls the operation of an inverter (9), and conduction state of a transistor (11) preceeding the triac (12) in series with the equipment supply line.</p> |
