PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image management method capable of easily eliminating image data of low importance but protecting continuously image data of high importance after carrying out duplication/transfer to an external apparatus of image data protected so that an operation may not eliminate it accidentally. SOLUTION: When photographed and acquired image data are protected so that an operation may not accidentally eliminate the image data, either of protection which will be canceled if the image data are transmitted to an external apparatus or protection which is continued even if the image data are transmitted to the external apparatus is applied.
