A fluid specimen testing device comprises a female member having a first region and a second region and a corresponding male member engaged within the first region of the female member and capable of movement therein, wherein the male member may comprise a detection means preferably a lateral flow test strip. An absorbent material is supported within the second region, whereby a fluid absorbed to the absorbent material may be communicated to the detection means by movement of the male member. The device may further comprise a filter layer and may be transparent or comprise a window to enable visual inspection of the detection means. One or more airtight foil seals for preventing loss of fluids from the absorbent material may also be provided. A device comprising a vessel defining a cavity having a first and second region, wherein the first region may comprise a detection means and an absorbent material is supported within the second region, whereby in use a fluid absorbed to the absorbent material may be communicated to the detection means through the use of suction is also outlined. |
