Big end bearing oil system - has through transverse bore in crankpin leading to peripheral groove each end

The system supplies oil to a big-end bearing via a coaxial lengthwise bore and a through radial bore in the crankpin. The transverse bore (13) is offset for roughly 105 deg. in the direction of rotation in relation to the direction of the crank throw, and leads at both ends into peripheral grooves (14) in the crankpin (4). These grooves extend symmetrically in relation to the bore axis through roughly 30 deg. in each case, while there is a peripheral groove (15) formed in the bearing shells (8,9) extending for roughly 90 deg. in all, between points 60 and 150 deg. before the lengthwise axis of the connecting rod in the direction of rotation.
