PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the image quality and the carrying quality of a transfer material by forming a two-layer structure consisting of a first layer having a specified surface resistivity and a second layer constituted of a rubber material having a specified surface resistivity and a large temp. dependence of the electric resistance. SOLUTION: A transfer and carrying belt 201 consists of two layers 201a and 201b. The surface coating layer 201a as the first layer is formed by applying a coating soln. having 1×10<11> to 1×10<14> [Ω.cm] volume specific resistance on the second layer 201b, and the thickness of the first layer is controlled to have 1×10<10> to 1×10<16> [Ω] surface resistivity at normal temp. and normal humidity. The second layer 201b as the base layer consists of a semiconducting rubber which is a rubber material having rather high temp. dependence of the electric resistance and essentially consists of CR(chloroprene rubber). The resistance of the second layer 201b is controlled to 1×10<7> to 1×10<11> [Ω] surface resistivity, preferably 2×10<9> to 4×10<9> [Ω] at normal temp. and normal humidity. |
