The natural draught cooling tower is fitted with elements preventing ingress of cold air in the form of one or more displacement members (2) in the centre of the air outlet cross-section (11). The members can be mounted on a mast of the tower, which is built on the rope network or membrane system, and can be anchored by radial ropes to the top of the tower. Each member can have radial bosses supporting an end ring for the tower structure, and it can be circular, or ring shaped in plan view. Each member may have upwards directed diffuser extension, preferably protruding over the tower opening edge.
