<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable learning type optimal notch filter control, making a magnetic head rapidly and accurately follow a magnetic track, even when the width of the recording track is made narrow and a tape speed is made high. <P>SOLUTION: A PES (Position Error Signal) is generated from a servo signal reproduced from a magnetic tape in a servo signal reproducing section 42 and the PES is subjected to an FFT (fast Fourier transforming) process to generate frequency component information in a frequency conversion section 43. A filter value is generated on the basis of the frequency component information and written in a memory in a filter value forming section 44. When various data signals are recorded in the magnetic tape, a control filter 49 which reads the filter value from the memory and operates as a notch filter is incorporated in a feedback control of a tracking servo. Thereby, periodic noise and narrow band noise of the PES is removed thereby. As a result, the PES is reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
