<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deterioration of emission even if evaporated fuel is purged to an intake system from a canister 15 when lean burn operation is performed, using hydrogen as fuel, in an engine 1 performing stoichiometric operation using fuel including gasoline and lean burn operation using hydrogen fuel. <P>SOLUTION: During stoichiometric operation using the fuel including gasoline, HC, CO and NOx in exhaust gas are eliminated by a three-way catalyst 22. During lean burn operation using hydrogen fuel, HC which cannot be eliminated by the three-way catalyst 22 caused by the purge of evaporated fuel in exhaust gas to an intake system is adsorbed by a HC adsorbent, and oxidized and eliminated by an oxidation catalyst 23. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
