PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illuminator for photography or the like improved in measuring accuracy of emitted light quantity of a light emitting element.

SOLUTION: The illuminator for photography (10) includes: the light emitting element (32) which emits illuminating light for photography through an optical member (36); a fixed member (35) which is positionally fixed relative to the optical member, provided so that the illuminating light emitted by the light emitting element can be made incident from a plurality of directions, and formed of material having light diffuse transmittance by which the illuminating light is diffused and transmitted on its inside when the illuminating light is made incident; and a guiding member (37a) on one end side of which a detection part (37b) detecting the illuminating light emitted by the light emitting element is provided, the other end of which is fixed to the fixed member, and which guides the illuminating light made incident on the fixed member from the plurality of directions and transmitted through the inside of the fixed member, to the detection part through the other end.
