PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a weather strip for an automobile capable of being mounted on a flange tightly, with good appearance, and stably through a double-sided adhesive tape, and to provide its mounting method. SOLUTION: The weather strip for an automobile comprises a mounting base part 11 comprising a vehicle outside wall 11a, a connecting wall 11b and a vehicle inside wall 11c covering both side faces and an end part of a flange F formed along a door opening edge, the vehicle outside wall 11a being constructed so as to be fixed to a side face of the flange F through a double-sided adhesive tape T, and a hollow seal part 12 integrally formed in the vehicle outside of the mounting base part 11 and elastically contacting a door D in closing the door, wherein the distance S between the vehicle outside wall 11a and the vehicle inside wall 11c of the mounting base part 11 is made narrower than the thickness of the flange F, and a strippable bead 15 inwardly protruding more than a protrusion of the double-sided adhesive tape T is formed on the inner face in the end part side of the vehicle outside wall 11a of the mounting base part 11.
