PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyurethane resin emulsion giving a dry coating film having excellent water resistance and strength based on its high molecular weight. SOLUTION: The polyurethane resin emulsion contains a polyurethane resin (U) and water and satisfies the following (1)-(3): (1) the weight-average molecular weight (Mw) of the polyurethane resin (U) is 20,000-2,000,000 while a ratio (Mw/Mn) of the weight-average molecular weight (Mw) of the polyurethane resin (U) to its number-average molecular weight (Mn) is 1.5-3.5; (2) the polyurethane resin (U) has a carboxy group and/or a sulfo group neutralized with one or more kinds of neutralizers selected from the group consisting of ammonia and 1-10C amines; and (3) no emulsifying agent is used on dispersing the polyurethane resin (U) in water.
