The method involves detecting a total traveling time of an individual vehicle (F-id) for a total route (S). A partial traveling time is determined from a cruise of a number of vehicles for each of road sections (S-i), and a parameter characterizing a traffic condition is determined for each of the road sections. A partial traveling time is corrected on the basis of the parameter, such that the parameter produces the sum of the total traveling time. The corrected partial traveling time is selected as a traveling time of the road section.
