PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stent which has a high degree of flexibility in the unexpanded state, has adequate scaffolding strength, and does not produce excessive torque on delivery. SOLUTION: The stent has a flowpath therethrough defining a longitudinal direction and comprises a plurality of circumferential serpentine bands. The band comprises a peripheral serpentine first band and a peripheral serpentine second band. The first band comprises a plurality of peaks and troughs, adjacent peaks and troughs connected by bent struts. The second band comprises a plurality of peaks and troughs, adjacent peaks and troughs connected by bent struts. Each bent strut having only a single bend, some of the peaks of the first serpentine band overlapping with some of the troughs of the second serpentine band in regions of overlap.
