METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MACHINING ROD-SHAPED ELONGATED MEMBER

<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for machining a rod-shaped elongated member, which provides a continuous and uniform machined surface in additional machining of an elongated member. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A gripping/fixing mechanism AA grips and fixes equipment to a rod-shaped elongated member 7 to provide a reference for additional machining. A rotating mechanism BB continuously drives by rotating a cylindrical electric discharge machining electrode 9. A radially driving mechanism CC moves the rotating mechanism radially in such a state that the electric discharge machining electrode 9 is driven by rotating in the radial direction of the rod-shaped elongated member 7. An axially driving mechanism DD moves the rotating mechanism in the axial direction of the rod-shaped elongated member to continuously continue radial machining in the axial direction by the electric discharge machining electrode.
