PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit breaker capable of reducing cost and achieving high breaking capacity. SOLUTION: The circuit breaker is provided with: an insulating housing that is made of a synthetic resin and composed of a base and a cover; a fixed contact piece 4 that is fitted inside the insulating housing and has a fixed contact point 4a at one end; a movable contact piece 7 having a movable contact point 7a that comes in/out of contact with the fixed contact point 4a; and an arc-extinguishing device 9 that is fitted inside the insulating housing to extinguish an arc, occurring when the movable contact piece 7 is separated from the fixed contact piece 4. An arc guard 13, which is formed of a synthetic resin integrally with the base so as to protrude from the inner bottom of the base, is provided one on each side of and close to the contact point.
