The invention relates to a variable-rotor-speed wind turbine which is mounted on a substantially frusto-conical tubular tower, based on a wound-rotor electric generator with suitable rotor currents being applied using a power converter or based on a squirrel-cage asynchronous electric generator or on a wound rotor or permanent magnet synchronous electric generator. The converter is sized to convert all of the power generated. The electrical equipment is configured and mounted inside the tower (1), at least in the upper central part thereof, and comprises a converter (18) and a transformer (21) which converts the electric power originating from the converter (18), all of the generated electric power dropping from this position to the earth at medium or high voltage (line voltage above 1000V). |
