SERIAL DATA RECEIVER, GAIN CONTROL CIRCUIT AND GAIN CONTROL METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively perform gain control and offset correction of a gain-controllable compensation circuit which compensates for deterioration characteristics of a transmission line.

SOLUTION: A gain control (AGC) circuit includes: a plurality of D-type FFs each for holding a plurality of binary serial data positioned in the center of continuous eye patterns outputted from a comparator 51 and shift data positioned between at least continuous two of the plurality of binary serial data in accordance with a predetermined clock; a logic circuit 53 which determines a pattern of the digital data held in the plurality of D-type FFs, generates a gain control signal to increase/decrease a gain of a compensation circuit and outputs a signal corresponding to a phase difference of the plurality of digital data held in the D-type FFs; and a VCO 57 which constitutes a PLL with the D-type FFs and a logic circuit 5 and is oscillated at a frequency corresponding to a voltage of the signal corresponding to the phase difference to generate the clock to be applied to the D-type FFs.
