<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication relay apparatus that carries out an address translation relating to real-time Internet FAX communication specified in the ITU-T recommendation T.38. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A communication relay apparatus 20 includes: a processing means 108 which is connected to both a first network 36 of a first address space, where a first communication device is connected, and a second network 40 of a second address space, where a second communication device is connected, and performs relay processing upon a message exchanged between the communication devices in accordance with a call control protocol of FAX communication; a determination means 110 for determining a relay address to be used for relay between the networks for a communication channel to be used for transmitting FAX data of FAX communication; a rewriting means 112 for rewriting an address of the communication channel contained in a message received from a communication device into the relay address on the corresponding address space; and a registration means 114 for registering a permission of relay of FAX data via a communication channel.
