The method involves extracting conveyable material (1) by a connection tube designed as a lance (6) from a hollow space into a furnace space (7), where the tube has a cross-sectional area that is less than the conveying line connected upstream. The hollow space is air-tightly sealed from the exterior air. An air or gas stream is flowed into the furnace space from the region of the hollow space upstream of the lance. The air or gas stream is conveyed into the starting region of the lance through a mechanical conveyor (5) operating at zero pressure. An independent claim is also included for a device for feeding a conveyable material to a reaction furnace.
