PURPOSE: A reciprocating compressor is provided, which improves intake loss efficiency and performance by reducing suction loss by omitting a suction valve. CONSTITUTION: A reciprocating compressor is equipped with a rotary valve. The rotary valve comprises a suction rotor(710), a blocking wall, and a spring. The suction rotor has a receiving groove(711) and a side flow hole(712). The flow hole communicates with the receiving groove. The blocking wall is arranged between the suction chamber and suction rotor. The spring is arranged between the suction rotor and blocking wall. A distributing hole is formed within the cylinder block. The distributing hole interlinks the exterior of the suction rotor and each cylinder bore.
