PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biodegradable lubricant composition that is excellent in lubricity, has higher biodegradability and is also excellent in rust preventive properties and low-temperature fluidity. SOLUTION: The biodegradable lubricant composition is produced by blending an additive into a vegetable oil, wherein it is characterized in that the vegetable oil has a degree of biodegradation of 80% or higher as determined by the OECD 301C method and has a property in which it will not become solidified when left to stand for 24 hours at -10°C; the additive is a fatty acid partial ester of a polyhydric alcohol in which the fatty acid part constituting the fatty acid partial ester has a carbon number of 16-22 and has a degree of biodegradation of 80% or higher as determined by the OECD 301C method; the blending amount of the vegetable oil is 85-99.5 mass% based on the total amount of the composition; the blending amount of the additive is 0.5-15 mass% based on the total amount of the composition; and the composition has a viscosity at 40°C of 30-250 mm<SP>2</SP>/s.
