IMMUNOMODULATOR AND ANTIALLERGIC AGENT CONTAINING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel immunomodulator which can be used in the prevention and treatment of allergies and excels in safety.

SOLUTION: A composition comprising a product brewed from rice as a raw material is provided as an immunomodulator. It is preferred that the above product brewed from rice as a raw material has further undergone fermentation treatment, and particularly has undergone the fermentation treatment in the presence of rice bran. Such fermentation treatments can increase the content of γ-aminobutyric acid in the product brewed from rice as a raw material and exhibits superior modulability. For example, the immunomodulator is useful as a Th1/Th2 balance modulator for modulating the Th1/Th2 balance and an antiallergic agent.
