A device for making wire hoops for securing bottle closures, in particular of sparkling wine bottles, is characterized in that four wire feeds (1) are arranged on a support in such way that two pairs of wires (2, 2' and 3, 3') are guided to cross at an angle of 90 DEG to each other. The wires lie on the lateral flanks (4) of shaping elements (5) having shaping surfaces (6), which form with the flanks (4) an angle alpha = 45 DEG , and having approximately quarter-circle recesses (7) at their tips. The shaping elements (5) slide on rails (8) parallel to the directions of the wires and, during the shaping process, press with their recesses (7), against a mandrel (9) and against one another with the shaping surfaces (6), thereby leading to the formation of a four-part wire circle with double wires (10) extending from the latter. Twisting elements (11) which can be slid on to the ends of the double wires (12) are arranged in the prolongation of the double wires (10). |
