A method of controlling the temperature of a thermal load 53, 54 within a structure 50 (objects 54 and air 53 within a room of a building 50) comprises a structural member 10 (a wall, floor or ceiling of a building) having a thermal mass, the temperature of the thermal load 53, 54 being controlled by thermal energy transfer between the structural member 10 and the thermal load 53, 54, the structural member 10 having at least one duct 18a - 18e communicating a flow of air that is supplied to the thermal load 53, 54 and permits convective thermal energy transfer between the air passed along the at least one duct 18a- 18e and the thermal load53, 54, and a conduit 32 located in the at least one duct 18a - 18e communicating a fluid and permits thermal transfer with the air passing through the at least one duct 18a - 18e. The at least one duct 18a - 18e may be separated by ribs (20, fig 1a) and communicate with each other through openings 30 drilled in a face 12 of the structural member 10 thereby creating a serpentine passage. Conduit 32 may be flexible and comprise of a first part (32a) and a second part 32a connected together by a connector (38). Fluid communicating through the conduit 32 may be water or a refrigerant. |
