PROCESS FOR PREPARING OF gamma-BUTYROLACTONE

PURPOSE: A process of preparing γ-butyrolactone is provided to prevent environmental pollution and ensure high selectivity for the γ-butyrolactone by minimizing side reactions. CONSTITUTION: A γ-butyrolactone is prepared by performing liquid-hydrogenation of maleic acid dialkylester under the presence of metal oxide solid phase catalyst. The solid-phase catalyst contains an active ingredient of oxide containing a metal atom of 11 group. The solid-phase catalyst additionally contains a carrier having an active ingredient of oxide containing 13 and 14 groups. The maleic acid dialkylester and hydrogen are contained in the molar ratio of 1:5-1:100. The preparation is performed at 0.05-5.0 hr-1 of liquid hourly space velocity and 150~250°C.
