2,2-Disubstituted 5-methyl-2,5-dihydro- and 2,2-disubstituted 5-methyl-tetrahydrofurans of formula (I) wherein R1 is methyl, ethyl, propyl or iso-propyl; and R2 is a branched C4-C7 alkyl, C5-C8 cycloalkyl, or mono- or disubstituted C5 or C6 cycloalkyl; and the bond between C-3 and C-4 is a single bond, or the dotted line together with the bond between C-3 and C-4 represents a double bond are useful as odorants.
