The magnetic head has a floating body for providing a cushion of air supporting the head, during relative displacement of the head and the magnetic recording medium. This body comprises a substrate to which successive layers are applied to obtain the magnetic structure of the head. Pref. the thickness of the substrate is equal to the dimensions of the floating body in the direction of the relative displacement. Several magnetic structures for respective heads may be formed on a common substrate which is then divided to obtain the individual heads. |
