PURPOSE: A lithium secondary battery is provided to induce an electrode assembly in longitudinal compression to discharge the electrode assembly in a downward direction by using a can formed with a notch part at the lower part thereof, and to prevent short circuit between electrodes. CONSTITUTION: A lithium secondary battery comprises: an electrode assembly; and a can(120) where an opening is formed at the upper part to accept the electrode assembly and a notch part(140) is formed at the lower part thereof; and a cap assembly sealing the opening of the can. The can has a long-side wall, short-side wall and lower surface. |
