摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing device for a wheel capable of reducing hoop stress generated in an inner ring by staking, improving durability by suppressing deformation of the inner ring and maintaining bearing preload at an appropriate value over a long period of time. <P>SOLUTION: In the bearing device for a wheel, the inner ring 5 and a filler piece 17' are fitted on the small-diameter step part 4b of a hub ring 4, and the inner ring 5 is axially fixed with respect to the hub ring 4 via the filler piece by a staked portion 7 formed by plastic deformation of an end of the small-diameter step part 4b radially outwardly. The filler piece 17' is formed in a substantially rectangular shape in cross section and a tapered surface 18 having a predetermined tapered angle is formed in the inner-side end face of the filler piece 17'. An annular groove 4d is formed in the small-diameter step part 4b on which the filler piece 17' is fitted. The inner diameter d2 of the filler piece 17' is set slightly smaller than the inner diameter d1 of the inner ring 5.
