<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium transition metal system compound powder for a lithium secondary battery positive electrode material capable of making its cost lower, capacity higher, output higher, life longer and safety higher. <P>SOLUTION: The lithium transition metal system compound powder for a lithium secondary battery positive electrode material contains one or more elements selected from Mo, W, Nb and Re of 0.1 to 5 mol% to a total mol volume of Mn, Ni and Co in a formula (I) [L]<SB>3a</SB>[M]<SB>3b</SB>[O<SB>2</SB>]<SB>6c</SB>, wherein L=Li, M=Ni, Mn and Co, or Li, Ni, Mn and Co. 0.4≤Ni/(Mn+Ni+Co) mol ratio <0.7, 0.1<Mn/(Mn+Ni+Co) mol ratio ≤0.4, 0.1≤Co/(Mn+Ni+Co) mol ratio ≤0.3.
