<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To replaceably load a plurality of process units for forming a plurality of color images or process units for forming an image limited in the number of colors, and to prolong a period before necessitating a maintenance work in the case when the process units for forming the image limited in the number of colors are loaded, as compared with the case when the plurality of process units for forming the plurality of color images are loaded. <P>SOLUTION: A positioning part 72 is configured to position and support the first process unit 32C or the second process unit 60. A first bearing part 76 is configured to position a shaft part 74 in an engaged position where a gear 86 for transmitting the driving force of the driving gear 84 to a first image carrier 22C engages at the end part of the first image carrier 22C to the driving gear 84.
