<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an electron source manufacturing apparatus and method obtaining uniform electron emission characteristics; an electron source manufactured by the same; and an image display device using the electron source. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for manufacturing the electron source that activates each electron emission element by performing current-carrying activation processing of applying an activating current to each of a plurality of matrix-wired electron emission elements has: a voltage applying means for applying voltage between row wiring and column wiring to apply the activating current to each electron emission element; a wiring resistance value-computing means for computing wiring resistance values of the row wiring and column wiring during the current-carrying activation processing; a voltage drop amount-computing means for computing a voltage drop amount caused by wiring resistance, based on the computed wiring resistance values; and a control means for controlling a value of voltage applied between the row wiring and column wiring, based on the computed voltage drop amount. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
