PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal, a travel path recording method, and a program, each of which enables sure recording of travel paths during a trip, or the like, while reducing a waste of power in a battery, without requiring a large capacity memory. SOLUTION: The portable terminal includes: a position obtaining section that obtains a piece of position information of a current position of the portable terminal by using a GPS system; a motion sensor that detects a movement of the portable terminal; a storage section that stores a history of the pieces of position information; and a recording section that records, into the storage section, a piece of position information newly obtained by the position obtaining section, only when a movement is detected by the motion sensor.
