<p>A cooking apparatus with a rotating spit comprises a device for automatically basting spit-roasted food or meat. The cooking apparatus comprises a spit (27) driven by a motor. A drive pulley (1) or a drive pinion mounted on the spit drives a master pulley (5) or a pinion connected to a cam (7) whose rotation periodically operates the plunger of a pump (14) which draws the oil from a reservoir provided for this purpose, before pumping it into a basting spray pipe (29) provided with nozzles (30) for spraying the oil towards the spit (27). The speed reduction ratio of the spit rotation to the cam rotation is set to spray at a period of a non-integral number of revolutions, for example every six and a quarter revolutions.</p> |
