<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide such an optical pickup device and optical disk device in which a fraction defective decreases in a process using an optical disk having a plurality of recording layers to operate an objective lens in a tracking direction and evaluate a characteristic. <P>SOLUTION: The optical pickup device includes: a light source 11; an objective lens 19 for converging an outgoing light 25 on a L0 layer 21; a photodetector 23 for receiving a reflected light 26 from the L0 layer 21; and an astigmatism generation element 18 which is arranged between the objective lens 19 and the photodetector 23 and generates light for focus control from the converged reflected light 26. The astigmatism generation element 18 is formed on a slope 16, and has a plurality of ring sections 29, and a level difference part 30 connecting adjacent ring sections 29, wherein the reflected light 27 from an L1 layer 22 is made incident only on the ring sections 29 in the astigmatism generation element 18 regardless of the operation of the objective lens 19 in the tracking direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
