<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new O-bound-type N-acetylglucosamine transferase which specifically acts on an epithelial growth factor domain, to provide a gene encoding the same: and to provide their applications. <P>SOLUTION: The new O-bound-type N-acetylglucosamine transferase consists of a protein selected from (1) a protein having a specific amino acid sequence, (2) a protein having an amino acid sequence different from the above amino acid sequence, and (3) a protein having an amino acid sequence equivalent to both of the above amino acid sequences and exhibiting an O-bound-type N-acetylglucosamine transfer activity. The gene encoding the O-bound-type N-acetylglucosamine transferase is also provided.
