PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance vehicle installation characteristics of an electric compressor applied to a refrigerating cycle device for air conditioning of a vehicle. SOLUTION: The electric compressor includes: a housing 10; a compression mechanism 20 disposed in the housing 10 and sucking and compressing a refrigerant; and an electric motor 30 disposed in the housing 10 and transmitting power to the compression mechanism 20 via a shaft 31. The electric motor 30 includes: a stator 32 fixed to the housing 10; and a rotor 33 connected to the shaft 31 and rotating integrally with the shaft 31. The rotor 33 includes: a holding part 331 extending from an outer circumferential surface of the shaft 31 toward an inner circumferential side of the housing 10; and a rotor magnetic pole 332 held on an extension end side of the holding part 331.
