<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the performance of HC oxidation and CO oxidation by a catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: In a catalyst for cleaning an exhaust gas which includes a catalyst layer 7 having Pt-carried alumina particles 26, Ce-containing-oxide particles 23 and zeolite particles 22, and which cleans HC and CO of a lean combustion engine, the catalyst layer 7 includes many fine dispersed iron oxide particles of diameters of 300 nm or smaller which are brought into contact with the alumina particles 26, the Ce-containing-oxide particles 23 and the zeolite particles 22. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
