<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-stage ladder having usability and extremely high safety. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This extensible multi-stage ladder includes a lower stage ladder body and a plurality of ladder bodies for extension which have respective pairs of right and left column members and which are combined in such a manner that the column members are extensible and an operation rope for extensively operating the ladder bodies for extension. The ladder includes an operation order restriction means which restricts the operation when the ladder bodies for extension are extended and retracted by operating the operation rope in such a manner that, when extending, the uppermost ladder body is first operated and the lower ladder bodies are operated and extended in order, and that, when retracting, the lowermost ladder body is first operated and the upper ladder bodies are operated and retracted in order.
