The system has a remote controlled operable monitoring camera (24) and a mobile radio device (10) of a cellular mobile communication network (40) that are provided as control terminals. The camera is connected with a mobile radio device (21) of the network. The camera transmits image signal and/or sound signal and/or data signal to the mobile radio device (10) working as control terminal and receives control signals from the mobile radio device (10) over the mobile radio device (21) and a public mobile radio network connection of the network. An independent claim is also included for a remote monitoring method.
