摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous casting method for a steel where, even when electromagnetic braking is acted by a shared coil, the braking force does not become insufficient compared with the case of electromagnetic braking by an exclusive coil for electromagnetic braking. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the continuous casting method for a steel, while acting electromagnetic braking on the shared coil 11 installed at the outer circumferential side of the long side 3b of a mold and capable of selectively acting electromagnetic braking or electromagnetic stirring on a molten steel 2 in the mold, the steel is continuously cast. The casting is performed in such a manner that, as the shared coil 11, the one in which H/W is >1.0 to 4.5 is used; wherein the length of each core 11a in the width direction of the mold is defined as W and the length in the drawing direction of a slab in the mold is defined as H, and an immersion nozzle 1 is located in such a manner that the opening faces 1aa on the outlet side of discharge holes 1a provided while being inclined within the range of 15 to 40° downward come to the positions including the center of the drawing direction of the slab in each core 11a. In this way, the braking force is not made insufficient compared with the case using the exclusive coil for electromagnetic braking without depending on the angle of the discharge holes of the immersion nozzle, and stable continuous casting can be carried out.
