<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device which saves electric power while suppressing luminance unevenness of a main liquid crystal display unit. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The display device includes the main liquid crystal display unit 3, a sub liquid crystal display unit 4 which provides auxiliary display, a fluorescent lamp 5 which irradiates the main liquid crystal display unit 3 and sub liquid crystal display unit 4 with light, and a partition plate 6 which splits light from the fluorescent lamp 5 into light from a light emission tube 5a excluding a periphery of an electrode and light from a light emitting tube 5a nearby the electrode. Then the main liquid crystal display unit 3 is irradiated with the light from the light emission tube 5a excluding the periphery of the electrode, and the sub liquid crystal display unit 4 is irradiated with the light from the light emitting tube 5 nearby the electrode.
