<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that an electric field which should be originally applied to a pixel is disturbed, failing to correctly display an object image and degrading display qualities. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In a pixel G1, a lateral electric field YD2, which is induced by a voltage applied to the pixel electrode 115 of a pixel G3 next to the pixel G1 in the Y-axis direction and generated between the pixel G3 and a common electrode 135 on the right of the pixel G1, is generated between a shielding electrode 145 and the pixel G1, and thereby, influences on the pixel G1 are suppressed. As a result, influences of an electric field generated by pixel electrodes 115 adjacent to each other can be suppressed between pixels adjacent to each other in the Y-axis direction, and liquid crystal molecules can be correctly rotated in accordance with voltages applied to the pixel electrodes 115.
