<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheelchair which can be safely stopped when a human body leaves a seat part even under various conditions. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The wheelchair is provided with a wheel unit 20 to which a motor unit 25 is attached. The wheel unit 20 is provided with wheels 21, attaching shafts 22 and axle members 23. A wheelchair body 10 is provided with a backrest 11, armrests 13 and a seat part 12. The wheelchair body 10 has brakes 15 for braking the wheels and brake levers 16. In the seat part 12 and the backrest 11, detection means 14 for detecting the sitting state of a human body in a seat are arranged. When the human body leaves the seat while the wheelchair travels, a motor is turned off and a crutch is disengaged by a control means on the basis of the detection result of the detection means 14.
