The method involves positioning star-shaped bearing plates (8, 9) at respective front sides of a laminated stator core (5) that exhibits star-shaped cross section. Wound winding carriers (6) are attached to the star shaped laminated stator core in a radial direction such that teeth of the laminated stator core and radial extensions of the star-shaped bearing plates are pushed through a central recess in the wound winding carriers. A hollow-cylindrical yoke (14) is slid on the laminated stator core with wound carriers in an axial direction. An independent claim is also included for an electrical machine comprising a rotor.
